Learning Styles of Gifted Children
Learning Styles:
You will notice a pattern in the learning styles of gifted students. Gifted students are just like any other student in that they all learn differently and each one has his or her own preferred learning style.
- Some enjoy working in groups where their leadership skills can be exposed and developed
- Others prefer to work independently at their own pace
- Some are hands-on kinesthetic learners
- While others are auditory learners
- Many gifted students find logical reasoning to be their preferred learning style (indicating a reason Language Arts and Mathematics should not be codependent on one another, i.e. if they are gifted in one they must be gifted in the other)
- If logical is not their preferred style of learning, perhaps linguistic is
- Some are visual learners, they may learn best by comparing and contrasting a piece of literature to a video, or they my be great in geometry. Graphic organizers are a great resource to use with these learners
